TEBOLVL® inside, a biosourced, agile wood engineering material.

11/03/2025

As part of the Bois Construction 2025 Forum, and in anticipation of the forthcoming opening of the first LVL plant in France, the THEBAULT Group and its partner the CENZATO Group present their vision for the use of TEBOLVL®, a biosourced, agile material.
Convinced of the need to decarbonize construction and industry, the THEBAULT Group offers stakeholders an agile material that naturally finds its place in most applications. To illustrate our thinking, we have imagined TEBOLVL® inside, to demonstrate the tremendous adaptability of this biosourced material.

TEBOLVL® an essential wood engineering material

The TEBOLVL® manufacturing technique makes it a super-material. The superimposition of wood layers provides strength, dimensional stability and high load-bearing capacity. It saves space, cross-section and weight compared with other materials.
TEBOLVL® requires less material to produce. It can also replace more energy-intensive materials that are more difficult to recycle. TEBOLVL® is a record-breaking material. The resulting panels can measure up to 18 meters in length (the equivalent of a 6-storey or 5-storey building), with a thickness on demand ranging from 27 to 75mm.

A factory in France in the heart of the Auvergne mountains

In the heart of the Auvergne region, at Lempdes sur Allagnon (43), the 15-hectare TEBOLVL® site produces 100,000m3 per year, providing an efficient response to the growing needs of the construction and industrial sectors. To guarantee maximum industrial efficiency and offer premium-quality LVL, the finishing line is state-of-the-art, with panel/beam processing integrated into the production line. The site will be inaugurated in the last quarter of 2025.

A biosourced material made in France

TEBOLVL® is made from pectin fir. In the immediate vicinity of the production site, the Auvergne massif offers an available, sustainably managed resource. The proximity of this local resource radically improves the day-to-day availability and environmental performance of TEBOLVL®. Auvergne pectin fir has been known for generations for its mechanical qualities, particularly for carpentry. What's more, this species has a natural aptitude for peeling, enabling the manufacture of high-quality engineered wood like TEBOLVL®. In addition, the sustainable use of this species means that the surrounding fir forests can be maintained and enhanced in the long term.

Applications that make sense for construction

TEBOLVL® offers a new solution for structural applications in the construction industry, where it combines with other materials to offer advantages in terms of strength and load-bearing capacity. Used in load-bearing panels, both for floors and roofs, TEBOLVL® sets new installation time records. Finally, when used in post-and-beam construction, it enables optimized multi-storey construction by reducing cross-sections, thus freeing up precious square meters. TEBOLVL® is also an invaluable ally for off-site construction, home improvement and reinforcement of existing structures. TEBOLVL® complies with the requirements of EN 14374, can be calculated in accordance with Eurocode 5 and is described in the DTU.

New prospects for industry

For industrial applications, TEBOLVL® replaces or combines with other materials to provide mechanical performance and rigidity. In the world of joinery, its rigidity and dimensional stability secure frames and sashes. For furnishings, it offers designers a new freedom, enabling longer spans in reduced cross-sections while saving material. TEBOLVL® is also used in the construction industry for high-precision formwork .

Innovative solutions for infrastructure

Engineered wood materials offer new development prospects for players involved in decarbonization. In the energy sector, experiments to manufacture wind turbine structures and blades in LVL have demonstrated their technical and environmental relevance. To become a reality, these innovations will have to enter an industrial dimension with a material available in quantity and quality like TEBOLVL®.

A guide to TEBOLVL® applications

Published for construction and industry professionals, this guide is an invitation to share the potential of TEBOLVL®. Beyond traditional applications, this guide is also an opportunity to think together about new applications that will make sense from a technical, economic and environmental point of view. Together, let's imagine the innovations of tomorrow.
